Buddha - The Bridge Mixed media on Canvas (48"x72")
2013. Dallas, TX.
Gautama
Buddha, one of the greatest teachers in human
history, showed us the way to the ultimate happiness through
self-realization and meditation. He believed that one must
look inwards before searching for faith and truth outside. He
invited believers and atheists alike to take a journey inwards
and gain insights about themselves. Both aspects of human
life, reality and dreams or aspirations need to be connected,
bridged together. This Buddha painting depicts the sky
(dreams) in the upper left corner and earth (reality) in the
lower right and in the middle is a tree, a true representation
of a bridge between the two. Just as the tree first plants its
roots firmly in the ground before branching upwards and
reaching for the sky, so must we firmly ground ourselves in
our reality before reaching for our dreams and aspirations.
